We have had a huge influx of emails over the weekend from various people reporting sightings of false widow spiders all over the UK.
We have added all of these locations to our false widow spider map.
Locations of reported sightings include:
- Belvedere, Kent
- Heanor, Derbyshire
- Appleby, Scunthorpe
- Great Yarmouth
- Culcheth, Warrington
- Southwick, West Sussex
- Llangeinor, South Wales
- West Yorkshire
- Northern Ireland
- Pype Hayes, Birmingham
It seems that sightings of the false widow spider are getting even more common as the days go by. Our reckoning is that this is due to the temperatures dropping and therefore the spiders are looking for warmth inside people’s homes.
If you have a sighting to report, please do get in touch so that we can add it to the map.
Please remember that if you do spot a false widow spider you need to make sure to remove it safely. We also have a guide available to making sure that false widow spiders do not enter your house in the first place. For more information on these preventative measures, be sure to check out our blog post “How To Stop False Widow Spiders Coming Into Your House” which we hope is helpful and informative.
